Week 23: Stitchery in the Barossa
This last weekend I went to
Indulge in Stitches in the Barossa Valley (fabulous wine region just north of
Adelaide in South Australia). It was held at Maggie Beer’s Farm and the food
was just DIVINE!
My mum and I had a full day
stitching @leanneshouse (Leanne Beasley) patterns and @ rosaliedekkerdesigns patterns surrounded by happy, chatting women!
So that my mum could take all her stitching bits and bobs I made her a
#bionicgearbag out of @suedaleydesigns #raspberryparlourfabric which she loved.
I am very new to embroidery so my skills are not that great, but I love
the quiet contemplation of hand stitching (as long as I stop worrying about how
wonky everything is!) and it was lovely doing it with my mum.
The finished items on display
looked wonderful….. I am hoping that my embroidered bunting is going to look
just as pretty when I finish it!
Do you go to retreats /
stitching days? I would love to find more retreats here in Australia – it is
such fun spending time with other fabric obsessed people… makes me feel less
‘strange’ :D

Do you know Melody at House on the Hill? She's an Aussie blogger who goes to tons of stitching days and retreats and posts about upcoming ones she's found. No idea if you're in the same area of australia though!
